Over population means the presence of more people in a given area than can be supported adequately by the resources available in that area. The problem of over-population is the most important one facing humanity today. As the density of population in a candle holders area increases, each person’ share of the available supplies of land, water, fuel, etc. must necessarily decrease. As the distribution is never proportionate, the poor become very much worse off. At present the world population is more than 5 billion (500crores) and about eight crore people are being added to it every year. In India alone there are more than 85crore people at present and by the year 2000 we may be more than 100crore. If poverty and starvation exist today, how can economic and agricultural development keep pace with this exploding population? If we want to survive, this continued increase in population must stop, that is zero population growth be achieved. In this respect we can emulate china. There couples who bear one or two children are rewarded and those with three or more are penalized. The first child is given preference for admission to school and many more such steps are being taken in that country.

English is currently the most widespread language in the world.English is important not because a number of people know it in many countries, although it is factor to be remembered. It is not important because it is the language of Milton and Shakespeare, Egypt Vacations that also has to be considered. English is important because it is the major window for us on the modern world. And we dare not close that window. If we close it, we imperil our future. We think of our five year plans, industrialisaton, scientific development and technology. But every door of modern knowledge will be closed if we do not have one or more foreign languages. The main reason for learning English is for getting good job in multinational companies. English is a means not only for international commerce; it has become increasingly essential for inter-state commerce and communication. We can make use of English to promote our worldview and spiritual heritage throughout the globe. Increase of Internet in various languages, English is the mainstay of the Internet users. This is the language in which most of the information and websites are available. It is very difficult to translate each and every relevant webpage into the language of various countries. With Internet becoming very important in E commerce and also in education, English language is bound to grow. Thus the importance of English as a language is emphasized.
